The group said they were ‘delighted to be honoured’ and they presented the awards chairman Lord Foulkes with a copy of their latest album.
Due to the fact that the House of Lords chamber was in session the band were not able to perform live at the awards but they will be appearing on the Terrace of the House of Commons on New Year’s Eve at The Speaker’s reception, where all proceeds will go to the charity Help a Capital Child.

The band continues to gig and fundraise, to date raising over half a million pounds for charities including Save the Children and Help for Heroes.

Greg Knight has been typically busy, most notably proposing and begging of the House a second reading of his Private Members Bill proposing amendments to the Estates of Deceased Persons (Forfeiture Rule and Law of Succession) Act. Whilst the subject is very complex, there are important exceptions where the current Act could be considered cruel or unfair towards an individual. As Greg explains,

"The Bill seeks to amend the law of succession in England and Wales where a person disclaims-that is, rejects-an inheritance or is disqualified from receiving an inheritance by reason of the forfeiture rule."

MPs have debated Tory MP Greg Knight's Estates of Deceased Persons (Forfeiture Rule and Law of Succession) Bill at second reading.

The bill seeks to amend the law in England and Wales to protect the inheritance rights of children of people who turn down their inheritance or forfeit their rights by unlawfully killing the deceased.

At present, in this instance, inheritance passes to other family members and not to the killer's children.

Introducing the bill on 21 January 2011 Mr Knight said it was not acceptable that grandchildren could be punished for the sins of their parents.

My bill "is not likely to be the talking point of the week in the pub", he remarked, "but it will go some way in making the law fairer".

MP4 producer Robin Millar has been honoured with the CBE Order of the British Empire for services to music. As a highly acclaimed and successful record producer, songwriter and musician he has contributed immensely to the music industry with a number of hits from the likes of Sade.

His productions have sold over 55 million copies to date and he has campaigned to raise millions for a number of charities including Oxfam and UNICEF. He was even awarded the 2002 Windrush Award for his work with minorities.

Robin Millar has not restricted himself to music solely, involving himself with academia at Thames Valley University where in 2007 he was awarded Honorary Professor status. Furthermore he has been a coach and mentor to FTSE business leaders and is the Honorary Patron of the Music Producers Guild.

As portraits of former Speakers Michael Martin Betty Boothroyd and Bernard Weatherill looked on, the band played a few tracks from the album. The Kevin Brennan-penned Rock and Roll Heaven was a particular crowd-pleaser. Mr Speaker said their performance was fantastic and he praised the work of Help for Heroes and the bravery of the armed forces.

What's in a name? Greg Knight explains.

Fate brought together four MPs to form the world's first parliamentary rock band. According to drummer Greg Knight, the 60-year-old Tory MP for East Yorkshire, one day Labour MP Ian Cawsey (49, Brigg and Goole), and the SNP's Pete Wishart (47, Perth and North Perthshire) were discussing the possiblity of forming a parliamentary band.

"Ian said it would be impossible as no-one on parliament plays the drums," explains Knight. "I happened to be walking past at that exact moment and thought they were winding me up as I play drums. What were the odds?" They decided to call themselves MP3. "Then we heard Kevin play guitar." The addition of Labour minister Kevin Brennan (50, Cardiff West) meant the band changed its name to MP4. They bonded over the Beatles and found they clicked musically.
