About MP4

What do hard-working MP's do in their spare time?

The answer, in some cases, is probably 'not much'. But MP4 are on a mission. They are using their love of music to help raise money for charity and to assist good causes. So, with echoes of the Beatles' last live concert - when the Fab Four performed live atop the roof of Apple Studios in central London - MP4 have performed on the House of Commons roof at Westminster, rehearsing material for their live show and a new album. Quite a prestigious rehearsal space!

Their first album, which was released in aid of charity in 2005, contained four tracks - three covers and one original song. The songs are: 'In the Midnight Hour', 'Can't Buy Me Love', 'My Old Friend the Blues' and a band-original track called 'Foolish Game'. The session was produced by legendary producer Robin Millar, producer of Sade, Peter Gabriel, plus dozens more (visit Robin's site for his full discography).

The CD, entitled House Music, is still available from the main MP4 web site and was also released digitally by EMI. In December 2009, they backed Feargal Sharkey, performing with him his hit 'Teenage Kicks'. After taking time away from the spotlight to record new material, MP4 finally completed work on their second disc (and first full-length album) at the end of 2009. Entitled ‘Cross Party’, it was released on the 18th of March 2010 by Revolver Records.

Who's in MP4?

MP4 are Kevin Brennan MP (guitar and vocals), Ian Cawsey MP (bass guitar and vocals), The Rt Hon Greg Knight MP (drums and percussion) and Pete Wishart MP (keyboards). Formed in 2004, MP4 are the first -and currently the world's only Parliamentary Rock band. They have helped to raise over £320,000 for charity since their first gig.

With a growing fan base, they have regularly performed before Ministers and MP's as well as the public. In 2005 their first single on EMI was downloaded by the then British Prime Minister Tony Blair. In 2010, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Opposition Leader David Cameron both praised the charity fund-raising efforts of MP4 and pledged their support for the band's new album.
